Scholarship Information

It's time for SCHOLARSHIP AUDITIONS!

If you have been admitted to USU for the fall, we are currently accepting video submissions for scholarships. Scholarships are available for all instruments, but special consideration will be given to tubas, trumpets, and trombones.

Please email a private Youtube video link (or Vimeo, etc.) to joseph.falvey@usu.edu or share your video through file sharing services like Dropbox.

The scholarship amounts will be based on the quality of your audition (sending in a video does not guarantee you a scholarship) as well as the total number of auditionees. Here are the parameters:

Awards will range from $200 to $600 - requires participation in marching band and an additional ensemble in the fall and spring.

WW and Brass:

  • 1 scale demonstrating your full range on your instrument.
  • 2 contrasting etudes or excerpts from solos of your choice. Play whatever you are most comfortable with. Does not need to be more than     3 minutes.

Drumline:

  • Rudiments from each category - rolls, paradiddles, flams, and drags
  • optional - a solo or cadence (USU cadences available at aggiemarchingband.usu.edu under the Drumline tab)

All new color guard members (not already receiving a music scholarship) will receive a $100 scholarship (no audition necessary).

We will start to make offers on June 15th and will do so until we have awarded all of the funds. Please get your video in early for full consideration. If you are leaving on an LDS mission, you can make a video now and you will be considered with the auditoness for the year you return.

If you have any questions about the scholarship process, please email Dr. Joseph T. Falvey at joseph.falvey@usu.edu.

ALL MARCHING BAND MEMBERS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR AN AUTOMATIC $300 HOUSING SCHOLARSHIP IF THEY CHOOSE TO LIVE IN MOUNTAIN VIEW OR VALLEY VIEW TOWER. NO AUDITION IS NECESSARY, BUT YOU MUST EMAIL DR. FALVEY TO RECEIVE THIS SCHOLARSHIP.
